Due to the pandemic, this winter has been a bit depressing for snow lovers like us. Travel restrictions have left many people reminiscing of past trips and dreaming about a covid free future. However, high-level competitions are still being held following social distancing guidelines. I have attended competitions with Lasse Lehwald under the elite sports travel exemption. Multiple weekly corona tests and mandatory masking is the norm, but it is nice they are able to make these events happen.

Throughout the winter Lasse has been competing in the European Cup and World Snowboard Tour competitions. Leading up to these competitions he has been training new tricks and working on his consistency, which has paid off recently.

Results:

23rd in Slopestyle in the European Cup at Götschen, Germany (out of 60 international competitors)

19th in Big Air in the Spring Battle at Absolut Park, Austria (this was his first WST Elite level contest)

8th in Slopestyle at the European Cup in Leysin, Switzerland (his best European Cup finish)

These competitions are used to gain valuable points that qualify riders for World Cup events. Lasse is climbing in the points and working hard towards this goal of WC qualification. The most important thing is he is having fun doing it which really shows in his riding.
